It attributes a strong sense of history and modernism at the same time - best of both worlds. Another famous characteristic is the abundant Jacaranda trees that adorn the streets of Tshwane during Spring and Summer months, with purple blossoms covering the streets, filling the air with a sweet scent.
The annual arrival of the purple blooms are welcomed on the campus of The University of Pretoria. It is said that when a blossom falls on your head, you will pass all your exams. Talking about universities, the city is one of South Africa’s leading academic cities and boasts with the largest residential university in South Africa, the largest distance education university in South Africa and a research intensive university.
