TOPOGRAPY:

VEGETATION:

Portion of the valuable river veld alongside the Groot River that runs through the North /East side of the farm we will find. Sweet Thorn Trees [ Vachellia Karroo] and River Ganna [ Solsola aphylla] dominating the riverbanks and adjoining veld.

Other flora includes Karee [ Searsia Lanoea] dwarf and succulent shrubs, Bur Bistle Grass [ Setaria lancea], Blue Buffalo Grass [ Cenchrus ciliars] and Guinea Grass [ Panicum maximum] under the taler shrubs and trees.

The broken Karoo veld on the ridges and hills is made up of typical dwarf and succulent scrubs including Anchor Karoo Bush (Pentzia incana), and legumes with taller shrubs and trees including Spike Thorn (Maytenus heterophylla), Guarri (Euclea undulata), Jacket Plum (Pappea capensis), Karoo Shepherd’s Tree (Boscia oleoides), with some Spekboom (Portulacaria afra), and a few Bitter Aloe (Aloe ferox). Dominant grass species include Klipgras (Aristida diffusa), Spear Grass (Heteropogon contortus) Quick Grass (Cynodon dactylon)



WATER SUPPLY:

The farm has 7 boreholes, 6 sun pumps and +/- 20 -x 5000 L water tanks, 1 x earth dam and water is piped to a 200 000 L Sink dam/ reservoir which again feeds tanks for domestic use, irrigation and livestock watering purposes.



IRRIGATION: Approximately 17 Ha dry land is available for planting and irrigation from the Groot RIVER, River.
