Bryanston at a glance

Sandton is home to some of the wealthiest and most influential citizens in South Africa. Hosting the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the suburb is widely acknowledged as South Africa’s premier financial district and is often referred to as “Africa’s richest square mile”. 

The Sandton CBD has created a massive demand for residential property in the area as the headquarters of most financial institutions are located here. Brand names and luxury are the order of the day, with the very best in entertainment and fine cuisine adding to the massive popularity of the centre. Together with Nelson Mandela square, Sandton City makes up the one of the largest retail complexes on the continent.

Nelson Mandela square is the perfect place to unwind and have a meal after a long day of retail therapy, with numerous restaurants offering a selection of cuisine from across the globe. There is also a six meter bronze statue of Nelson Mandela on display here, adding to the region’s ambiance. Amenities in the area additionally include a plethora of outstanding schools and hospitals.

BRYANSTON

Bryantson is not only school and family orientated, it has started to develop a corporate influence as Google South Africa’s headquarters is situated in Bryanston, which means there is an entrepreneurial and innovative presence in this area. Google isn’t the only company based here, Facebook, Microsoft Corporation and Ogilvy & Mather are also situated here which is a good combination of creatives and tech savvy individuals.

One of the biggest hospitals is situated in the heart of Bryanston, this is The Mediclinic Sandton and it is a private hospital on the corner of Main Road and Peter Place.

The Bryanston Country Club is one of the finest golf clubs with lush lawns and trees that boast a vibrant variety of birdlife. Founded in 1948 this golf club is known for it’s peace, tranquility and many members over the years have enjoyed the social facility with friends and co-workers. This country club has hosted both weddings and other private functions in their gorgeous venues. If you’re a golf lover, you’ll want to be a member of this club.

HYDE PARK

Hyde Park is one of the most sought out areas to live in Gauteng. The look and feel of this area makes one feel like they are visiting London. This is due to the fact that the houses are built in a similar fashion to those in the UK and their exclusivity also brings about a first world feel.

Sandhurst property value can reach up to R100 million, which keeps developers away which in turn adds to the exclusivity of the area. ATHOLL

Atholl is an upmarket suburb in the trendy Sandton, and was named after a former district in the Scottish Highlands. This area is elite and boasts luxury buildings with streets that are lined with trees that lead to a myriad of shopping and dinning facilities.

Atholl residents are known for their shopping and feasting abilities, some of the best shops and eateries are available in this area. If you are a foodie then you’ll love Atholl as there is a large variety of gorgeous restaurants and coffee shops for you to dine with friends and family.

When you visit this area you’ll notice many of the residents enjoy going for jogs and runs on the streets as it is incredibly safe, which means there is a healthy lifestyle amongst those who live in Atholl. If you enjoy keeping active then this area is for you as the scenery is gorgeous and tranquil.

St Mary's School for girls is located in this area, as well as King Edward VII School for boys, both are excellent schools for you to send your kid(s). The school grounds are large and gorgeous and the school spirit is prominent in both schools. They both offer a variety of great extra murals and have a rich history. St.Mary’s have stated that “they have an impressive number that have made their mark in the arts and sciences, in business, politics, the media and sport, both locally and abroad.”

The serenity and safety of the large homes are what draw people to live in this area. Most of the properties are positioned amongst ancient trees and the land can be between ½ an acre & 2 acres in size. This area is incredibly popular and you’ll feel as though you live in the country.

INANDA

Inanda is nestled behind The Wanderers Club, which is Johannesburg’s premier sporting club, and other affluent Sandton suburbs such as Craighall and Hyde Park. It is a secure and peaceful suburb that boasts large properties. Despite being close to bustling suburbs it still remains and country styled area that you’d love to live in.

Johannesburg is now known as the biggest man made forest in the world and Inanda in particular is accentuated with the lushness of the trees along the street and gardens surrounding the homes. This is one of the reasons living here feels like living in the country side. 

Inanda’s central positioning places them in the middle of some of the most interesting things to do in Johannesburg if you’re not interested in visiting the popular shopping malls. On one side you have Johannesburg Zoo which is an affordable day out for the whole family. This zoo is truly incredible and is home to a wide variety of animals from all over the world. The enclosures are incredible and the kids will love visiting this Zoo. On the other end there is the Emmarentia Dam which is also a family favourite as the large open space invites you to have picnics or perhaps play some games in the park.

St.David’s Marist is a world renowned school that is situated in Inanda. This school is a catholic private school that provides a challenging learning environment which enables boys from diverse backgrounds to realise their potential and develop their talents. The boys are offered a variety of sports and cultural extra murals and they are encouraged to be wholistic students.
