Office profile - Witbank

In this, our first electronic issue of HuizeeViews, we felt it appropriate to focus on our Witbank office - Huizemark's very first franchise which was opened 15 years ago.

Vic Smit has been the franchise holder since the office opened its doors and has seen them grow from strength to strength. Not only has Vic made his mark in Witbank but he has also been a key player in the growth and development of the Huizemark business over the years.

He tells us that the industry and the way business is conducted has changed considerably over the last decade or so and particularly over the last five years as a consequence of the introduction of HuizeNet which he was instrumental in developing together with home office.

A highlight for Vic has been the rebranding exercise which he says has made a terrific impact in his market.

The Witbank property market is largely influenced by the mining industry being really challenged about once a year when hundreds of miners are suddenly in the market for new homes after their existing homes make way for mining. Generally speaking‚ the Witbank market is fairly buoyant and Vic has seen house prices rise considerably over the last few years.

His key to success is training, a hugely important aspect of success in the property industry and Vic says he spends a great deal of time and effort in 'creating the best agents in town'. Another key to success is their involvement in good developments - about 40% of Witbank's business relates to developments.
